I've since likened it to the most out-of-control, lavish, extravagant Bat Mitzvah party I'd ever been to. Except that's not exactly right. See, this was on the grounds of a beautiful college in Oxford. This had over 1,000 attendees. This had alcohol and food from stores and restaurants around the city, and it felt like you could have as much as you wanted for free (never minding the ticket you paid for ahead of time). This had different venues for professional photography, poker, dancing, and laser tag. This was so much better than a Bat Mitzvah party.
I think my favorite luxury of the night (and oh, there were so many to choose from) had to have been the chapel. See, inside the chapel, there were a dozen stylists: hair, makeup, nails--take your pick. So we got to get our hair professionally done, nails painted, etc. It was princess-worthy.
Here's a mix of photos taken by me, other people, and professional photographers at the event.
Our group on the quad at Pembroke before heading to the ball.
Entering, on the red carpet, with champagne.
Chocolate fountain. They even had attendants to dip the fruit for you so you wouldn't get it on your dress!
After we got our hair done.
Black and white.
I don't think I could justify doing this every weekend, but it was--like so many other things from this year--a once in a lifetime experience.
